The Fischer Cup is a six race series that offers a $300 CASH prize for the 'Fastest' man and woman in the division, a pair of SWIX TEAM poles for second and SWIX CERA-F wax for third. There are no age classes. The first man and women in each race get 30 points, second gets 29 down to 1 point for 30th place (except for Great Race and Gold Rush, see below). Final totals will be based on the highest 4 out of 5 points given for the Snowshoe Thompson (excluded in 2006), Tahoe City Classic, President's Cup, TDXC Relays (Participation Points Only), and Great Ski Race, PLUS the Gold Rush (Men) and Silver Rush (Women) Points.
RULES THIS YEAR:
MEN:
- Because of the high number of out-of-town "fast" skiers for these races, both the Great Ski Race and California Gold Rush will count for 50-49-48, etc. points.
- Points are scored allowing racers to "drop" one of the first 5 races (the Gold Rush points are not "droppable" and must be raced to be eligible for the overall points total).
WOMEN:
- The Great Ski Race points will start at 50 for women, same as the men.
- Silver Rush/Gold Rush: Women will be eligible for the Fischer Cup if they complete EITHER the Gold Rush or Silver Rush, but only Silver Rush will score points.
- Points for women will be given ONLY for the Silver Rush, starting at 30 points for 1st, 29 for 2nd, etc.
- Women will be allowed to drop ANY race in the series (ie., if she chooses to race the Gold Rush, she will get 0 points, but will be able to use that race as her "drop" race.
2006 UPDATE: Because of the cancellation of the Snowshoe Thompson, there are only 5 races in the series. The requirement of having to enter one classic race has been dropped for this year. Final totals this year will be based on the highest 3 out of 4 points given for the TC Classic, Presidents Cup, TDXC Relays, and Great Ski Race, plus the GOLD RUSH points for the MEN. Women will use the highest 4 out of the 5 points races.
