Sierra Regional Ski for Light (SRSFL) began in Norway in 1964 and today is a network of affiliated regional programs. It offers skiing and other fitness activities for visually impaired people, and is led by an all-volunteer staff. Everyone learns from each other and everyone benefits from the interaction.
In the summer of 2000, Margaux and Natalie Joffe founded the junior division of SRSFL. This program trains junior skiers to be guides for visually impaired youths. Last year, led by Junior Coordinator Gabrielle Joffe, the program trained three new guides who joined our three returning guides for a very successful season.
This year's Junior Program will be headed by Rachell Nadell of Truckee. This 14 year-old high school Freshman will be taking over the reins from Gabrielle, and enfusing her own energy into the Ski For Light Program for the future.
