Some close calls today, with 6 athletes moving on to the Quarterfinals on this VERY warm and sunny day, and a couple narrowly missing out. But the quarterfinals was as far as anyone got, with Daniel Gelso being the lone medal winner at 9th place. The level of competition out there is fierce!

A MUCH better day for Far West at Wednesday's Freestyle. Great snow, sunny skies, very warm temperatures (kinda reminded one of Auburn Ski Club in 2005) led to 3 medals and 9 top 20 finishes. FW had rocket-fast skis, as evidenced by Dayn Stimson rocketing past the lead group at the 7 km. mark of the J1 Girls 10K and blasting into the lead, while Carl and Joanne Reid both kept pace with their lead groups throughout the race, narrowly missing out on a podium spot. Lots of other great results as well, including Sophie Aaron, Daniel Gelso, and Spencer Wood's 15th place finishes.

A VERY tricky day of waxing on the quickly-diminishing trails of snow at Soldier Hollow. The course was changed to a different loop, as the standard course had deteriorated to unskiable. A cool night and morning, with a QUICK warm up, led to warm klister conditions for the older boys race. Highlight of the day was Ms. Nelson's 3rd place finish for J1 Girls.

Soldier Hollow threw its toughest at us last, as the temperatures stayed warm overnight, with rain and high humidity. Team Far West had some shining moments, the highlight of which was Sophie Aaron's first place finish in the "scramble" leg of the J2 Girls race, Joanne Reid's 5th fastest time overall in the same race, and Kelsey Dion's recovering from a fever in time to ski with her relay team in the Girls J1 division.
