This is one of the most anticipated trips of the year for the Juniors. It combines hard, extremely competitive racing on the trails of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics in Soldier Hollow with a really fun excursion to Utah. We will leave on Wednesday afternoon after school (athletes will be responsible for their own dinner on the road), a quick stay-over in eastern Nevada, and then head to Midway, Utah to check out the trails. Friday and Saturday will feature racing against the finest nordic skiers in the entire Western United States. This is THEIR JOQ (not ours), but we learn a lot from racing the best, and the excitement is infectious. Saturday afternoon is reserved for Tubing or Crater-Swimming, or just hanging out. Return is first-thing Sunday morning, back in Truckee by early evening.
Whether you're an elite Junior Olympian or a young, first-time (serious) racer, this is an important trip for all ages of junior skiers (13 and over).
The Super JNQ- the biggest pre-Junior Nationals event in the West, and is of particular importance this year as Soldier Hollow is the site of the Junior Nationals in March.
The coaches for the trip are Mark Nadell, Ben Grasseschi, Jeff Schloss, and Kara Lapoint. Food service will be handled this year by our superstar athlete-spoilers Linda and David Dore.
