NCAA NORDIC SKIING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
March 11-13, 2010

78 collegiate racers representing 21 teams qualified for this competition.
Former Far West juniors, now both skiing for CU, Matt Gelso and Joanne Reid had excellent classic races at the NCAA nordic championships.
In Thursday's individual start races, Matt Gelso won the 10k classic with a time of 29:25.5 and Joanne Reid was 4th in the women's 5k classic at 17:09.9

Saturdays's race is a 15 and 20 kilomtere mass start freestyle.

 

It was a bright sunny day and conditions were excellent for the 34th Great Ski Race. 1005 racers skied the 30 kilometer course from Tahoe XC to Truckee. Far West dominated the podium with 5 out of the 6 top spots. Adam Swank was 1st with a time of 1:11:30 while Far West seniors Ian Case, and Phillip Violett were 2nd and 3rd. Beth Reid was 1st woman at 1:18:51, with Katerina Nash 2nd and Cathy Howard 3rd.

Come meet the Far West Nordic directors, officers, and committee members.
Learn how you can get involved and help shape the future of Far West Nordic.
Appetizers and wine and an informal get together from 5:30pm followed by the board meeting and annual election of directors and officers at 6pm.
We need representatives from all walks of the skiing community, parents of junior athletes, racers, and recreational skiers. Board members and committee members are desired from all regions (Mammoth, South Lake, Bay area, etc.).
All members are welcome and encouraged to attend!!

California Gold Rush

Hosted by Royal Gorge and presented by Far West Nordic and Auburn Ski Club, the California Gold Rush is part of the American Ski Marathon Series. This is a fundraiser for the Far West Nordic Ski Association’s Junior Ski Programs. Royal Gorge donates 100% of proceeds to our organizations.
