February 15, 2010: Paco’s XC President’s Cup: Tahoe Donner XC
February 28, 2010: Royal Gorge Midseason Freestyle: Royal Gorge XC
March 7, 2010: The Great Ski Race: Tahoe XC to Truckee
March 28, 2010: California Gold Rush (Silver Rush for Women): Royal Gorge XC
The Fischer Cup is now a SEVEN event nordic race series that offers prizes for the 3 “Fastest” Men and Women in the Far West division; $300 CASH prize first place overall, a pair of SWIX TEAM poles for second and SWIX CERA-F wax for third. There are no age classes. Skiers must have a Far West Nordic Racing Membership.
RULES FOR 2010 (NEW!):
- The first man and women in each race get 30 points, second place gets 29 down to 1 point for 30th place (except for the Great Race and Gold Rush, see below).
- Because of the high number of out-of-town "fast" skiers for these races, both the Men's Great Ski Race and Men’s California Gold Rush will count for 40-39-38, etc. points. The Great Ski Race and Silver Rush Points for the women will remain at 30-29-28, etc.
- You MUST participate in at least TWO CLASSIC races and TWO FREESTYLE races to be eligible.
- Only the CLASSIC division for the Tahoe Rim Tour is eligible for points.
- Dropping your lowest scores: Participants are allowed to "drop" TWO of the first 6 race scores. The Gold Rush/Silver Rush points are not "droppable." New this year, the requirement to participate in the Gold/Silver Rush has been dropped, but racers not participating in that race will receive a mandatory zero. Meaning, you don’t HAVE to race it, but you can’t drop the zero points off your total.
- WAVE START RULES: Per the recommendation of the Far West Nordic Competition Committee, women who choose to race in the OPEN (Men's) wave of races with wave starts by gender will score points only in the OPEN (Men's) division. For a woman to score points against other women in a Wave Start race, she MUST START in the WOMEN’S Wave.
TieBreakers: If two or more individuals are tied at the end of the series, tiebreakers are performed in this order:
#1: The person with the most races completed wins the tie
#2: The person with the most head-to-head wins against the competitor wins the tie
#3: The person with the highest point total BEFORE dropping the minimum race wins the tie.
