THE BILLY DUTTON UPHILL

Billy Dutton Uphill 2012
April 15, 2012
Squaw Valley USA

Billy was an athlete with extraordinary endurance, equally famous for his great smile as he was for his daily (!) routine of skiing UP the Mountain Run on classic skis. As one of the founders of Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue, Billy's legacy lives on today. The Billy Dutton Uphill commemorates Billy's life and his many contributions to our community.

Squaw Valley's original "run what ya brung" uphill race, an answer to the famous Chinese Downhill of the 70's, starts at the base of KT-22. The course takes you UP the Mountain Run, then over to the top of Shirley Lake and finally ends after a brief downhill at High Camp. The course climbs 2000 vertical feet over 3.2 miles. There are ski and run/snowshoe divisions.

All proceeds from the Billy Dutton Uphill go to benefit Far West Nordic's juniors program.

Billy Dutton Uphill 2011
April 10, 2011
Squaw Valley USA
Congratulations to winners JP Donovan, Tav Streit, Kimball Pier, and Cassidy Cichowicz!
150 racers skied, skinned, ran, or snowshoed the 3.2 mile uphill on a beautiful day at Squaw. It was the first Billy Dutton Uphill for runner and overall winner JP Donovan who knew he had to have a big lead at the top of the climb before the final downhill to the finish where the skiers have a huge advantage.
